Kaeden Cornell
Pair of top-10 finishes with Lucas Oil MLRA at Wheatland
Taking part in a Labor Day tripleheader, Kaeden Cornell entered his Hoover Motorsports No. 50 Late Model into battle at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Friday evening for the two-day Ron Jenkins Memorial.
Drawing 34 Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) entries for the ninth running of the annual event, Cornell clocked in fifth-fastest in his group before placing third in his heat. Chasing a $5,000 payday in Friday night’s opener, Kaeden dropped one spot to finish 10th.
On Saturday, Kaeden secured his spot into the $11,000-to-win finale with a runner-up run in his heat race. Clawing forward one spot in the 50-lap affair, Cornell notched a seventh-place finish.
The team had plans to compete in Sunday’s Wiener Nationals at Moberly Motorsports Park (Moberly, Mo.) but ran into motor issues in time trials that brought an early end to his night.
