Kaeden Cornell
Runner-up Finish with Lucas Oil eSports Series at Kokomo Speedway
Monday night saw Kaeden Cornell return with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series at the virtual Lernerville (PA) Speedway for another round of the iRacing Invitational. In a field of 54 cars, Cornell followed up the fastest lap overall in time trials with a 10-lap heat race victory. Earning the pole position for the $1,000-to-win A-Main, Kaeden led the opening nine circuits before contact with another competitor relegated him back to a 13th place outing.
During the same night at the virtual Lernerville (PA) Speedway with the ML Performance iRacing Crown Jewel Series, Cornell registered the second fastest time in qualifying before coming in second in his heat race behind Trent Ivey. Locking the Top 8 from the preliminary feature on Monday into the 100-lap A-Main on Tuesday, Kaeden landed a fifth place finish.
Starting the main event in seventh on Tuesday, Cornell dropped two spots in the 100-lapper to place ninth.
Returning to action on Friday, Cornell traveled to the (virtual) Kokomo (IN) Speedway making his debut with the Lucas Oil eSports Series. After topping the charts in time trials, Kaeden streaked to a 12-lap heat race victory, which positioned him on the pole for the A-Main. After an intense battle for the lead with Corey Gordon and Trent Ivey, Cornell landed a runner-up finish when the checkered flag flew trailing David Seibers across the line with Mike McKinney, Corey Gordon, and Nick Stroupe trailing them to the checkers.
Also on Friday, Kaeden took part in the two-day ML Performance iRacing Crown Jewel Series event at the famed Fairbury (IL) Speedway. Coming in third fastest in his group, Cornell locked into the third-starting position for his 25-lap preliminary feature. Transferring the Top 4 into the 100-lap FALS Frenzy on Saturday, Kaeden flipped on his roof on lap 19, ending his night early.
Cruising to a 10-lap consolation victory on Saturday afternoon, Kaeden locked into the 17th-starting position for the $260-to-win FALS Frenzy. Gaining five spots in the 100-lap affair, Cornell posted a 12th place finish.
