Kaeden Cornell Opens 2020 Season This Weekend
Kaeden Cornell is set to kick off his most ambitious season to date this weekend in his Hoover Motorsports No. 50 Cloverleaf Auto Repair/ Choate Farms/ Rocket Chassis/ Hatfield Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Although Kaeden will enter a handful of ULMA Late Model events in 2020, the team plans to shift their focus primarily to Super Late Model competition this season. The up-and-coming racer plans to compete primarily with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) and Lucas Oil Midwest Latemodel Racing Association (MLRA). Cornell is also planning select events with the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS).
“I can’t thank Rick [Hoover] enough for choosing me to be his driver,” said Cornell. “I can’t wait to see what this season has in store for our team. We just want to learn as much as possible. If we can add a few Top-10’s and Top-5’s to the resume along the way, that’ll be a great bonus.”
In 2019 Kaeden finished third in the final ULMA Late Model standings at Missouri's Lucas Oil Speedway, while also entering a handful of Super Late Model events. Additionally, he received the Most Popular Driver Award for the 2019 season at Lucas Oil Speedway.
Cornell acknowledges that transitioning from the Limited Late Model to a Super Late Model will have his challenges. He knows that a tall order awaits him, competing against some of the toughest drivers in the Midwest, but he’s excited for the opportunity to learn from his fellow competitors.
“To be the best, you have to race with the best,” Cornell added. “I made my first Diamond Nationals in 2019 and was privileged to race alongside drivers like Mike Marlar and Billy Moyer. I learned more that night than I have my whole career thus far. I’m looking forward to building on that knowledge this season.”
Kaeden will kick off the CCSDS season this weekend with a double header at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La. The inaugural Ronny Adams Memorial boast a $3,000 top prize on Friday followed by a $7,000-to-win program on Saturday.
